The VFW Sport Clips Help A Hero Scholarship is accepting applications for the Spring 2027 semester. Scholarships of up to $5,000 can help pay tuition and required school fees.

In plain terms, applicants must:

• Be a U.S. citizen.
• Be an active-duty service member, National Guard or Reserve member, retiree, or honorably discharged veteran.
• Have completed basic training and the follow-on training required for their military specialty.
• Currently hold, or have left the military with, a rank of E-5 or below.
• Demonstrate financial need. The application requires current FAFSA-based financial-aid information.
• Be attending, accepted to, or planning to enroll in a VA-approved program at an accredited college, university, technical school, trade school, or certification program.

Applicants do not need to have deployed. Someone who has been accepted by a school but has not yet enrolled may still apply.

The scholarship is paid directly to the school and may be used for tuition and required fees. It cannot be paid directly to the student or used for books, internet service, housing, or other living expenses. Only one scholarship may be awarded per family per semester.

Applications for Spring 2027 are due November 15, 2026. Please share this with an eligible veteran or service member who could benefit.
