The One Light self-defense team focuses on a single goal:
Preparing women to avoid, face, or heal from physical violence, transforming them from victims into survivors.
What One Light Does
A 3-hour workshop that focuses on simple techniques to release and run from attacks.
LEARN: • Avoidance tactics. • Self-defense misconceptions. • Offensive/defensive techniques: (e.g., strikes and targets; chokes; grabs; bear hugs; and hair pulls).
All participants are required to sign a waiver; those under 18 years must have a parent/guardian signature. Attendees should be at least 11 years old. Dress in comfortable clothing and gym shoes. No flip-flops or jewelry, please. Workshop participants will be provided access to water fountains, bottled water, and restrooms.
One Light does not charge for training, but as a partner with Women At Risk, International (WAR, Int’l) asks that all participants make a free-will donation to WAR, Int’l, known for its fight against human trafficking, rehabilitating victims, and giving a voice to the silent cries of the oppressed. Your donations are 100% tax-deductible and greatly appreciated. This workshop will support JFL’s and VFW Post 311 initiative towards Positive Veteran Transitioning. Donation proceeds will go to the South Suburban Family Shelter located in Homewood, IL.
