DESCRIPTION:The first meeting of Coalition of Veterans Organizations (CVO) in 2018 will be held on Wednesday\, January 17th at 7 PM in the 2nd floor Conference Room of the Jesse Brown VA Hospital at 820 S Damen Ave in Chicago. Arrive early if you are interested in the committees and catching up on what CVO is doing; members of the Executive Committee will be there by 6 PM. \nThe agenda is really exciting! We’re going to start with a presentation by veteran activist Aaron Hughes on the Right to Heal Campaign. Then we are going have Bill Luna back to make another presentation on Latino veterans. We will also be giving out coupons for free haircuts at the Hair Cuttery. \nIn case of inclement weather\, be sure to call us at 773-243-2335 to get the latest meeting information. \nAs usual\, parking will be validated and pizza will be served! \nSee you on the 17th!

We are going to refocus CVO on fighting efforts to privatize the VA. The current Secretary of the VA has stated that he’s for a “hybrid” VA – party private\, part public (as it is). DESCRIPTION:The Coalition of Veterans Organizations (CVO) will sponsor a Town Hall Meeting on Saturday\, September 20th from 10 AM to 12:30 PM at the Montford Point Marine Association\, 7011 S Vincennes in Chicago. We have invited several elected representatives to attend\, including Senators Mark Kirk and Dick Durbin\, Rep. Bobby Rush\, Rep. Danny Davis\, Rep. Tammy Duckworth\, Rep. Luis Gutierrez\, Rep. Robin Kelly\, Rep. Mike Quigley and Alderman Roderick Sawyer. We will be discussing the current crisis at the VA\, the investigation of the Crisis Hot Line instigated by CVO and the need for these representatives to carry out the CVO Veterans Program in order to solve the problems of the VA. \nBe sure to come out!
