New Illinois Veterans’ Home at Chicago

The Chicago Home contains 200 single-occupancy rooms

Private and wheelchair accessible rooms with private bathrooms, including wheelchair accessible showers.
Skilled care for Illinois veterans, including accommodations for Alzheimer’s and Dementia care.
Support services, including administration, laundry, dietary services, and maintenance and housekeeping
1st floor – resident common areas, administration, facility support departments, outdoor garden area, and large multi-purpose room.
2nd floor – Special Needs Unit, including memory care, outdoor terrace with gardens.
Floor 3-5 – open access, skilled nursing long-term care units.

The application process will begin on December 1, 2020.

What are the minimum requirements for acceptance?

Honorably discharged veterans who need skilled nursing care.
Honorably discharged veterans who served in the US armed forces for at least one day of active duty.
Honorably discharged veterans who have service credited to Illinois or who have resided in Illinois at least one year before the applicant may apply for admission.
