Decommissioning of the Chicago Council of Gold Star Mothers Memorial

The Memorial located at the intersection of 87th Street and Western Avenue has endured many hardships. Erected after the World War One by the Chicago Council of Gold Star Mothers to commemorate the ultimate sacrifice their children paid in the defense of our country. Yet, it is time for its decommissioning which will allow for its rebirth. A new location has been identified for future generations to learn of the sacrifices of soldiers and their families. Please join us to mark this solemn occasion. Decommissioning Ceremony Color Guard * Speakers * Taps honoring our fallen heroes   87th & Western Ave.   (Parking across the street)
